Introducing Salinas Chiropractor Dr. Pamela Kirkwood

Dr. Pamela KirkwoodI wish my parents had known about chiropractic when I was a kid and perhaps I would have avoided back surgery.

I have chosen to devote my life to the healing arts because I wanted to make a difference. Since having braces and back surgery for scoliosis as a teenager, I wanted to give people more effective options than what I had at that time in my life.

When I graduated from Chiropractic College in 1986, I knew it was just the beginning of my education. As a lifelong learner and teacher, I was the first person in California to become Board Certified in the treatment of Scoliosis. I also hold a Fellowship in Spinal Biomechanics. Many additional training courses have given me a unique perspective and specialized training in my field. We have the first and only Creating Wellness Assessment Center in Salinas with the ability to accurately determine your wellness quotient (like your I.Q.) and have a fully customized program to improve your wellness quotient and your life.

Dr. Pam with Jason.

I believe that with all my heart in the principles of alternative healing which are that the body is a self healing, self regulating organism. I believe that health comes from above down and inside out. I know that the master control system is the nervous system. I know that any interference within that system is bad and clearing it up is good. I know that a body that has less interference always runs better than a body that has more interference. I know that we are all under stress (physical, chemical and emotional). Chiropractic allows for greater adaptation to those stresses in life by removing interferences to the nervous system so that a body that has a greater ability to adapt to its environment. This allows for a greater potential for excellent health and expression on every level.

I am a lucky lady...I have a wonderful husband of many years with two remarkable children (well actually, young adults now). We love to travel and see new places. When I am not in my Salinas practice, you may find me at the beach, making jewelry or following my husband around one of the many tracks in California to watch him race. He's getting pretty good and we all have fun watching him! I love to cook and entertain at our home while enjoying the company of our many Salinas friends and family. Italian and Mediterranean cuisine are what I am currently practicing. Bon Appetito!

I am a walking, living miracle as a result of living the chiropractic lifestyle for many years. (Ask me if you're interested.) I get adjusted every week with few exceptions. My children were raised this way. Neither of them ever had an ear infection growing up. Our philosophy is chiropractic and prevention first, medicine second and surgery last.

How do chiropractors help ADHD?
There is agreement that ADHD is a nervous system disorder. And while chiropractic isn't a treatment for ADHD, if your child has subluxations, resolving them will often produce profound results. Click here to learn why more and more Salinas parents are choosing natural chiropractic care rather than dangerous psychotropic drugs.
What's the difference between maintenance, prevention and wellness?
Maintenance chiropractic care is an attempt to keep a dynamic, ever-changing and adapting organism (you) in a static relationship with your environment. Preventive chiropractic care is mostly about early detection. Wellness chiropractic care is an attempt to optimize our health and be all that you were designed to be.
